Privacy Policy

This site belongs to Jarvis Bailey, a freelance designer based in Leicestershire, UK. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it.

If you send a message

The contact form asks for your name, email address and message, and optionally your phone number, company and the service you’re interested in. It’s emailed to me so I can reply. It isn’t stored on the website, added to a mailing list or passed to anyone else. I keep emails for as long as they’re useful for our conversation or any work that follows, then delete them.

Analytics (only if you accept)

If you choose That’s fine in the cookie bar, the site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful: for example the pages you look at, roughly where you are (country and city), the kind of device and browser you use, and the site that linked you here. Google Analytics doesn’t store your IP address. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_HP3EMSF2K0, which last up to two years. The information is kept for 14 months. Google processes it on my behalf.

If you choose No thanks, nothing from Google loads and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; declining after accepting deletes the analytics cookies.

Your choice itself is remembered in your browser (not a cookie, and not sent to me) so the bar doesn’t keep asking.

Films on project pages

Some project pages include films hosted on YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play (on phones and tablets, until the film scrolls into view), and then it uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a film loads, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.

Hosting

The site is run by a web hosting company. Like any web host, its servers keep short-term technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to run the site securely.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it’s used. Get in touch through the contact page. If you’re not happy with my answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
